Michael Best’s Aaron Harris Named Notable Black Leader & Executive by Crain’s Chicago Business

Michael Best announced today that Aaron D. Harris has been selected by Crain’s Chicago Business to the 2021 Notable Black Leaders & Executives list. This award highlights the top practitioners in the greater Chicago area who stand out as role models in the community by providing opportunities for Black Americans in education, training, jobs, and entrepreneurship and advancing reform matters that disproportionately affect the Black community.

“I am incredibly grateful for this honor and to be included with such great leaders. I applaud Crain’s, Michael Best, and other respective businesses for being intentional in their diversity and inclusion efforts.”

Harris, Senior Counsel for Michael Best and Principal with Michael Best Strategies, serves as a trusted advisor in both regulatory and legislative matters. His extensive experience in criminal justice reform while at the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (“IDJJ”), and most recently as Interim Legislative director in the Office of the Governor JB Pritzker, positions him to offer valuable insight to reforms, committee testimony on best practices and recommendations, management, and support in litigation matters.

Outside of his work at Michael Best, Harris dedicates his time serving as a Board Member for the Center for Conflict Resolution and The Gordon Foundation for Kids, a nonprofit organization that supports children and families, especially those involved in the child welfare system, or at risk of becoming involved, with professional and personal development initiatives.

Harris has also been named a 2021 Fellow with the IMPACT Leadership Development Fellowship at Chicago Urban League, a rigorous program that provides advancement opportunities for Black professionals while building a more diverse channel of leaders throughout Chicago.
