Michael Best’s Kerryann Haase Minton & Jorge Leon Named 2021 Notable Leaders by Crain’s Chicago Business

Michael Best is pleased to announce that Kerryann Haase Minton and Jorge M. Leon have been selected by Crain’s Chicago Business as 2021 Notable Gen X Leaders in Accounting, Consulting and Law. This award highlights the top practitioners in the greater Chicago area accountants, consultants, and attorneys.

Minton, Managing Partner of the firm’s Chicago office, serves as a trusted advisor to companies seeking a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to employment matters. She is an experienced and effective litigation strategist, successfully defending clients in employment disputes at the federal and state levels.

In addition to her leadership roles at Michael Best, Minton serves on the board of directors for Big Shoulders Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization providing educational and financial support to schools through scholarships, special education programming, instructional equipment, facility improvements, faculty development and operating grants. Additionally, Minton has previously served on various board roles for the Chicago Dancing Company, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois and Girls in the Game.

Leon, also a Partner in the Labor & Employment Relations Practice Group, currently serves as Group Co-Leader of the Employee Benefits group and Co-Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee. His practice primarily involves counseling clients in designing, establishing, and maintaining health and welfare programs, executive compensation arrangements, and retirement plans. With more than 20 years of experience, Leon has been able to influence the development of national benefits policy in the areas of cybersecurity and pandemic relief.

Outside of his work at Michael Best, Leon serves on a number of boards. He was recently elected to serve on the eminent Field Museum’s Board of Trustees, and he also sits on the board of the directors of the Gads Hill Center, a 122-year-old nonprofit serving Chicago’s Hispanic community.
