Michael Best & Friedrich LLP has added a pair of attorneys to its litigation group in Raleigh, North Carolina, including a partner with more than two decades of experience advising clients with a focus on the health care industry, the firm announced.

Carrie Meigs and senior associate Justin May joined Michael Best on Monday, after spending the past three-and-a-half years with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP. Meigs told Law360 on Tuesday that she chose to make the move because she found the firm's culture appealing, also noting that in previous conversations with firm management, they seemed to take a genuine interest in the development of her practice.

"I think what impressed me the most in speaking to the folks here was the uniform collaborative approach that everyone I spoke to had in terms of how they approach law," she said. "Everyone was genuinely enthusiastic about the work they were doing, and I can also say it's the only firm I've ever spoken to that really challenged me throughout my conversations to think about what would satisfy me about building my practice."

Meigs, a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, represents healthcare providers in malpractice litigation and administrative proceedings, along with helping those clients on compliance matters in fields such as privacy.

"We are thrilled to welcome Carrie and Justin to our team in Raleigh," Raleigh managing partner Ed Roney said in a statement. "Carrie comes highly regarded as a client counselor and first chair general litigator, managing some of her client's most sophisticated business challenges. The addition of Justin complements these efforts and will further propel Michael Best in servicing our clients in the North Carolina market."
