Legal Tech’s Predictions for Cybersecurity in 2021

Whether it's the importance of securing health data during COVID-19, the continued expansion of ransomware or cyber training's increased importance, here's what attorneys and legal technologists are watching out for in the new year.

Adrienne Ehrhardt, chair of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity practice group, Michael Best: “2021 will see a continued increase in ransomware incidents involving exfiltration of data. While most businesses have protocols in place to encrypt sensitive personal information to mitigate against providing required individual notifications, they should also develop processes to protect confidential business information or any other information that, if disclosed, would create legal risk, PR issues or other concerns.”
