Michael Best Adds Depth to Firm Leadership with New Chief Information & Technology Officer and New Milwaukee Office Managing Partner

Jason Schultz Joins the Firm as Chief Information & Technology Officer, Alec Fraser Becomes Co-Managing Partner for the Milwaukee Office

Michael Best is pleased to announce the addition of Jason Schultz as firmwide Chief Information & Technology Officer and the appointment of Alexander “Alec” Fraser to Office Co-Managing Partner in Milwaukee. Jason will be based in the firm’s Waukesha office, which is also home to the firm’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Talent Officer.

Schultz’s hire reaffirms Michael Best’s initiative to continue strengthening their C-suite and operational teams and places emphasis on their growing impact in the Waukesha market. He brings 20 years of professional experience working for law firms to technology companies executing strategic initiatives, building and leading teams, developing digital strategies, optimizing user experiences, analyzing competitors and driving growth for the organizations he has served. Most recently, Schultz served as the Executive Director of Legal Operations at Rausch Sturm, a creditors’ rights law firm.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Michael Best,” said Jason Schultz. “I look forward to making an impact at the firm while actively taking part in the next phase of Michael Best’s growth through increased operational efficiencies, technological innovations, and enhancing the delivery and trust of our clients.”

“We are very excited to have Jason join our leadership team as Chief Innovation and Technology Officer,” said David Krutz, Firm Managing Partner. “He is a natural leader who will help us take advantage of the ever-evolving technologies and processes available to the legal industry, so we can continue to serve our clients in the most efficient and effective way.”

In addition to Schultz’s addition to the C-Suite, the firm also announced today that they have named Alexander Fraser as Co-Managing Partner of the Milwaukee office. He will serve in the position alongside José Olivieri who has served in the role since 2017. Alongside his new responsibilities, Fraser will continue to lead the firm’s national derivatives and LIBOR transition teams, which serves more than 90 national, regional and community banks, and continue to represent corporate clients and banks on commercial lending matters and corporate finance.

“I’m eager to take on this new leadership role,” Fraser said. “I’ve been at Michael Best for 26 years, and the professional and personal relationships I’ve made at the law firm and in our community have been long lasting. I’m gratified to have this opportunity to serve my colleagues and the firm’s clients from our new Milwaukee office and to continue the strong tradition of civic and charitable leadership in our community.”

“Alec is ideal for this position,” said Krutz. “Michael Best has a rich history of having its attorneys provide leadership in the Milwaukee community. Alec’s tireless service and dedication to a multitude of charitable and civic groups since he first joined the firm is remarkable. He will continue to help carry out Michael Best’s mission of giving back to the community.”
