Michael Best is pleased to announce that Sarah E. Flotte has been selected as one of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer’s 40 Under Forty honorees. The annual award goes to a select group of attorneys in the Chicago area who are nominated by their peers and chosen based on their intelligence, success, reputation and leadership in the community.
Flotte serves as a Partner in Michael Best’s Labor & Employment Relations Group and Co-Chair of the Higher Education Industry Group. Flotte is a trusted advisor to her clients, offering proactive, strategic, business-minded employment counsel. Her work includes litigation involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, non-compete enforcement and defense, employee leave disputes, wage-and-hour complaints, and defamation lawsuits. Flotte also counsels clients on a range of employment issues related to wrongful termination, hiring, evaluation, and discipline of employees, non-competes, wage claims, employee handbooks, privacy, sexual harassment, reductions-in-force, breach of contract, tortious interference, and investigations. Representing companies and management exclusively, Flotte works with a diverse group of manufacturing, logistics, government, financial, pharmaceutical, and higher education clients of all sizes.
Outside of Flotte’s legal practice, she served as the President of the Make A Wish Illinois Associate Board in 2017 and 2018. She also held various other executive roles with the Foundation since 2011. Under her leadership, the Associate Board raised more than half a million dollars to support the mission of Make A Wish, which is to bring hope, strength, and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
In addition to being honored as a 40 Under Forty recipient, Flotte was recently named one of Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers by Crain’s Custom Media, and included as one of the “Illinois Rising Stars” and “Top Women Attorneys in Illinois” by Super Lawyers magazine.
She earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2008 and her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2005.
The 2019 year marks the 20th anniversary of Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer’s 40 Under Forty. As part of this special anniversary, Flotte and other honorees were recognized on September 19 at Smith & Wollensky in downtown Chicago.
