After a successful pilot with selected GC’s, the Center for Management Terms & Practices and Michael Best have launched peer-led ‘intensives’ for general counsel. The Center, the standards body for general management, has used this format with CEO’s for six years.
This intensive kicks off with a peer’s 15-minute reflection on a topic chosen by the peers, immediately followed by three facilitated discussions at tables of four. Participants discuss the GC’s role and value, not technical legal matters. The hosts keep a low profile.
Kick-off speaker Steve Anderson of Culver’s Franchising System represents one of the top five brands in the country, requiring calmly, yet fiercely repelling attacks on the brand. This requires more than legal acumen: it takes a CEO’s feel for business issues in every corner of the business.
Peer-to-peer roundtables have earned an average evaluation of 4.8 out of 5, with many participants returning for additional roundtables.
