NAIOP CRE Executive Forum: Retail Remedies

NAIOP Wisconsin is pleased to welcome back Michael Best as the Presenting Sponsor for the CRE Executive Forum. The Forum is an interactive leadership platform for leading commercial real estate professionals.

Nancy Haggerty hosted a breakfast meeting for local real estate executives on Wednesday June 5, in our Milwaukee office, and led a discussion on issues surrounding repurposing and reuse of shopping malls and other closed retail locations. Dave Cleary of raSmith engineers and consultants, discussed how difficult and expensive it is to change the underground infrastructure of a retail development. Nathan Powers of Boerke, Cushman & Wakefield, discussed which retailers are looking for new locations, drawing on his recent attendance at the International Council of Shopping Centers convention. Nick Boerke of Michael Best discussed the “dark store” problem with retail real estate assessments. Nancy Haggerty and our real estate team have deep experience in creating and redeveloping shopping malls and other mixed use retail centers, and the rezoning, permitting, financing and TIF Development Agreement associated with them.
