Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce two attorneys have been promoted to the firm’s partnership. The newly named partners are as follows: James R. Lawrence, III and Steven J. Joffee.
Steven J. Joffee (Salt Lake City) is a member of the Litigation Practice Group whose practice focuses on all aspects of complex civil litigation and appeals. Joffee has extensive experience litigating and appealing matters in state and federal courts, including in disputes regarding breach of contract, business issues, class actions, eminent domain, unfair competition and trade secrets, fraud and misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duties, construction defects, employment, consumer protection laws, civil rights, and personal injury. Joffee earned his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and his B.S. from Brigham Young University-Idaho.
James R. Lawrence, III (Raleigh) is a member of the Litigation Practice Group who represents clients before trial and appellate courts in patent, trademark, copyright, and other complex commercial disputes. In addition to his complex litigation practice, Lawrence counsels companies on commercial transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory issues. He previously served as the general counsel of an established pharmaceutical company. Lawrence earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and his B.S., summa cum laude, from North Carolina State University.
