Finerty, Jr. has been selected by the Wisconsin Law Journal as a 2019 “Leader in the Law.” The annual Leaders in the Law awards celebrate the top judges, attorneys, and legal professionals making a difference in Wisconsin’s legal community. The award will be formally presented on February 21, 2019.
As a Partner and Chair of Michael Best’s Banking & Financial Services Industry Group, Finerty is well known and respected in the legal and business communities as an outstanding leader. In more than 25 years of practicing law, 17 of which have been with Michael Best, he has established himself as a creative and pragmatic litigator. He inspires others through his tenacious work ethic, commitment to client service, and proven results for his clients. These results as lead counsel or co-counsel are documented in long list of ground-breaking cases, many of which resulted in published decisions.
Finerty’s professional achievements include an AV (Preeminent) peer rating by Martindale-Hubble, and recognition in The Best Lawyers in America® in the category of Commercial Litigation, the "Leading Lawyers" list by Milwaukee's M Magazine, a “Forty Under 40” leader in the business community by the Milwaukee Business Journal, and the “Wisconsin Super Lawyers" list in the area of general litigation by Super Lawyers Magazine.
He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School, has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also a prolific writer and regular contributor to Marquette Law Review, the Wisconsin Lawyer and Today’s General Counsel magazines, American Jurisprudence, as well as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin Law Journal and Daily Reporter newspapers.
