Madison, WI (July 24, 2018) – Michael Best is pleased to announce Kevin A. Martin has joined the firm’s Real Estate team as a partner in the Madison office. Most recently, Martin served as senior counsel at Foley & Lardner LLP.
“Kevin’s broad range of commercial real estate and project financing experience will greatly benefit our clients and strengthen our real estate practice,” said Bret Roge, Chair of Michael Best’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group. “He’s well-respected in the real estate and legal communities and serves as an excellent addition to our growing practice.”
Martin focuses his practice on representing lenders and developers in a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including the purchase, sale, and development of multifamily housing, manufacturing facilities, and retail and office space, as well as real estate finance transactions. His real estate finance experience includes traditional mortgage financing, HUD insured financing, as well as New Markets Tax Credit and state and federal historic tax credit financing transactions representing both lenders and borrowers.
His experience also includes the real estate aspects of a variety of renewable and traditional energy projects, including the negotiation of renewable energy leases and easements, and development matters for solar, wind, and biomass projects.
Martin also has experience with aviation and port authority real estate work, including negotiation of airport and hangar leases. While in law school, Martin interned with the legal department of the Massachusetts Port Authority.
Martin received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Marquette University.
