MILWAUKEE (Feb. 8, 2017) – Nancy Leary Haggerty, a partner in Michael Best’s Real Estate Practice Group, has been inducted into Midwest Real Estate News’ 2017 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame.
Each year, Midwest Real Estate News, the publication featuring recent deals, market trends, and coverage of the region’s leading urban centers, inducts a new class of real estate professional from across the Midwest into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame.
Haggerty has more than three decades of experience covering a wide range of real estate law, including assisting clients in purchases, sales and leases of property, and development and zoning work, with particular emphasis on TIF financing and municipal development agreements. She also has expertise representing borrowers and lenders in real estate loans, assisting in foreclosures and workouts, advising on questions of condominium law, negotiating real estate terms of mergers and acquisitions, and assisting in real estate litigation.
Haggerty has served as legal counsel on some of the biggest projects in the Milwaukee market such as the Calatrava Addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee’s convention center, and the development and funding of the transformation of Bayshore Mall into an open air shopping center. She also regularly works across Wisconsin, with significant projects in the Wisconsin Dells resort community, including the development of the Chula Vista condohotel property, and the redevelopment of the historic Polynesian Resort into timeshares, as well as in La Crosse, Wisconsin where she represented Weber Holdings in its acquisition of a downtown city block from La Crosse County, and the redevelopment of that old Courthouse property into a mixed-use residential, office, commercial and parking development with 255,000 square feet of space and a value of more than $60 million.
Haggerty has received several accolades and recognitions including being honored in Chambers USA as a leading real estate law practitioner, “Leading Lawyers” by Milwaukee’s M Magazine in 2012 and 2015, and being named in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2011. She is a frequent speaker on commercial real estate topics, both in the State and at American Bar Association events. Nancy serves as the Chair of the ABA Real Property Section Committee on Hospitality, Timesharing and Common Interests Developments, as well as the Chair of the Advisory Committee to Marquette University’s Center for Real Estate. She is a member of the Academy of Commercial Real Estate Lawyers.
