MILWAUKEE (December 20, 2016) – Michael Best is pleased to announce partners Jorge M. Leon and José A. Olivieri have been recognized among the 2016 Top Latino Lawyers by Latino Leaders magazine. The list recognizes the most influential Latino lawyers in the country for making a significant impact upon the legal profession and their communities.
Leon, a Chicago employee benefits partner, is chair of Michael Best’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Through his leadership with the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Leon has established “Best Efforts Day,” a firmwide volunteer initiative, in addition to founding the firm’s employee resource group, Lawyers & Engineers Advancing Diversity. Leon also supports the Chicago Latino community through various roles, including service on Gads Hill Center’s Board of Directors and on various committees of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois.
Olivieri, a Milwaukee labor & employment partner, is a pioneering leader in both the firm and the Latino community. He is founder and co-chair of Michael Best’s immigration law practice, chair of the Higher Education Industry team, and former chair of the Labor & Employment Relations practice group. Beyond his firm practice, Olivieri serves in various roles, including President of the United Community Center’s Board of Directors and chair of Carroll University’s Board of Trustees. He is past Chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the Wisconsin Bar Association and a founding member and past president of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association.
