The New Proposed Overtime Regulations: What’s Included, What’s Not, and What to Do to Get Ready

2015 Chicago Labor and Employment Relations Breakfast Briefing

The U.S. Department of Labor finally has released its new proposed overtime regulations. If implemented as-is, those proposed regulations would increase significantly the number of employees eligible for overtime. Though the final regulations are yet to come, many businesses already are starting to plan for how they will classify their employees once the final regulations take effect.

In this presentation, attorneys Brian Paul and Steve Nigh will explain the Department of Labor’s proposed regulations and what additional overtime changes may be coming in the final regulations. In particular, Brian and Steve will cover the following topics:

  • An overview of the Department of Labor’s proposed regulations that would raise the required salary levels for exempt status.
  • Predictions regarding other changes that may appear in the final regulations, such as additional changes to the required salary levels and the duties tests for exempt employees.
  • Practical advice for preparing your business for the new overtime regulations.

Check-in, networking and breakfast will take place from 8:00-8:30am, followed by the program from 8:30-9:30am. If time allows, a Q&A session will take place following the presentation.
