On Saturday, June 13, 2009, beginning at 12:01 a.m. U.S. Eastern Standard Time, the popular social networking web site Facebook will begin to allow its current users who have more than 1,000 fans prior to May 31, 2009 to register and develop personalized URLs for their Facebook pages (for example, facebook.com/username). New Facebook users (or those with fewer than 1,000 fans) will have an opportunity to register a personalized page beginning June 28, 2009.
In order to prevent other users from registering your trademarks as a personalized URL, you may complete a short form available at http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=username_rights.
In the event that a third party does register a personalized URL that incorporates one of your trademarks, or engages in other unauthorized use of your intellectual property, you may challenge such use by completing Facebook’s notice of intellectual property infringement form, found at http://www.facebook.com/copyright.php?noncopyright_notice=1.
If you would like assistance with registering a personalized URL, or completing the trademark rights or intellectual property infringement forms provided by Facebook, please contact Jeffrey H. Brown at 312.222.5794, or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Lori S. Meddings at 414.277.3464, or email@example.com.
