O'Callaghan Organizes Pro Bono Foreclosure Prevention Project

Dan O'Callaghan, an associate in the Madison office and a member of the Land & Resources Practice Group, was interviewed by WISN-TV regarding his work with the Dane County Foreclosure Prevention Taskforce. This group organized a well-attended foreclosure prevention workshop, which was held at Madison Area Technical College's Truax Campus on August 1. The event was designed to help homeowners who have experienced a recent financial hardship, such as a reduction in work hours, salary, high medical bills, etc., apply to their lender for a loan modification under President Obama's Making Home Affordable program.
Dan has worked closely with the State Bar of Wisconsin's pro bono coordinator to recruit attorney volunteers for the project and with the University of Wisconsin Law School to recruit law student volunteers. They have secured more than 50 attorneys and law students and another 50 non-legal volunteers.
Discussions are underway to establish a similar program in Milwaukee.
