Madison, WI - Michael Best & Friedrich LLP partner, Richard J. Langer, was recently selected as the 2002 Outstanding Volunteer Fund Raiser by the Association of Fundraising Professionals ("AFP"). AFP represents 26,000 members in 167 chapters in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. Langer was nominated by HospiceCare, Inc. for his excellent volunteer service provided to the organization over the years. A distinguished panel of civic and business community leaders review each nomination and select a winner. Langer will be honored at the Fifteenth Annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration, to be held at the Edgewater Hotel in Madison on Friday,
Langer concentrates his practice in the areas of wealth planning services, estate administration, trusts, and marital property. He received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in aeronautical engineering from the University of Illinois and his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was a member of the Wisconsin Law Review and the Order of Coif. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a member of the Madison Estate Council, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section), and Dane County Bar Association. He is a contributing author and co-author of several books. In addition to his private practice, Langer has extensive teaching experience as a lecturer to the University of Wisconsin Law School and various bar organizations in wealth planning services topics, including Marital Property Reform. Langer is also listed in The Best Lawyer's in America and Who's Who In American Law.
