CHICAGO (September 27, 2016) – Michael Best is pleased to announce Jason P. Faust has joined the firm as an employee benefits associate in the Chicago office.
Faust will provide strategic counsel regarding a broad range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including qualified defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans, including pension and 401(k) plans; health and welfare plans, including Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act compliance; nonqualified deferred compensation plans; and compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and Internal Revenue Code.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Faust was a member of the employee benefits practice of a large international law firm, where he advised clients on all aspects of employee benefits issues involved in mergers and acquisitions. His practice is built upon a diverse background in employee benefits, having formerly worked as in-house counsel for one of the nation’s largest multiemployer Taft-Hartley defined benefit pension and health and welfare plans, as a compliance associate for a benefits, compensation, and human resources consulting firm, and as an extern with the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Benefits Tax Counsel. Faust also served as an academic fellow for The John Marshall Law School’s “Fundamentals of Retirement Plan Issues” course.
Faust earned his LL.M., with honors, in Employee Benefits, and his J.D., cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School, where he was a member of The John Marshall Law Review and Moot Court Honors Council. Faust attended Marquette University for undergraduate studies, earning his B.A. in Communications in 2005. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) and received the CBA’s 2015 Excellence in Employee Benefits Law Award.
