Karen Timberlake, a veteran in health care policy and population health, will join Michael Best Strategies as a senior advisor in its Madison office.
Timberlake served as director of the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute since 2011, following her tenure as Secretary of Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services. She will provide leadership and advice in health care policy, specifically population health improvement and payment innovation for state and national clients.
In addition, Timberlake will support clients in private, nonprofit, and public sectors to advance community and economic development.
“Karen’s knowledge base and relationships, throughout Wisconsin and nationally, increase Michael Best Strategies’ depth of expertise and further our commitment to being a truly bi-partisan strategic partner for our clients,” said Ted Kanavas, president of Michael Best Strategies. “She has led numerous statewide and regional cross-sector, collaborative efforts, seamlessly orchestrating partnerships with leaders across a spectrum of industries.”
Given her track record of effectively blending meaningful social change and economic improvements, Timberlake will spearhead Michael Best Strategies’ Shared-Value team. She will help companies identify opportunities that lead to local business growth and have significant, positive societal impact.
“Joining Michael Best Strategies provides an opportunity that allows me to have broad impact across many communities and regions to further improve two things that matter most to employers, community residents, and government: Good health and good jobs,” Timberlake said. “This team has such a depth of knowledge in government relations, public affairs, and business consulting, and the relationships needed to drive the work. Together, we can bring clients strategic guidance backed by real-world experience.”
