The meeting, held Aug. 19 at The Pfister Hotel and attended by more than 500 Milwaukee-area business executives, also honored Jose Olivieri of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as the executive of the year. Diaz received a lifetime achievement award and Cadorin received the group's first-ever HPGM Ally Award.
Griselda Aldrete, HPGM president, said the group also debuted its new undergraduate scholarship program, awarding scholarships to five undergraduate students, in addition to seven graduate-level students. The scholarships were funded with the help of corporate sponsors and matching contributions from both Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett spoke at the meeting about the timeliness of it and how it was great to see an event that brings diverse people together just days after the civil unrest the rocked the city's Sherman Park neighborhood.
Milwaukee-area business executives in attendance included Tami Garrison of MillerCoors, Jamie Delgadillo of Northwestern Mutual, Christy Brown of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, Kara Kaiser of BMO Private Bank and Ana Schwager of Southwest Airlines.
