Health Insurance
Our attorneys are eligible for health insurance on first day of employment, including same sex partners. Coverage is partially paid by firm, and the balance by employee. Various plan options suitable for the individual and the individual’s family are available.

Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is made available to new attorneys on the first day of employment. Coverage is partially paid by the firm, and the balance is paid by the employee.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Michael Best offers flexible spending accounts, which Include dependent care reimbursement; medical expense reimbursement and qualified parking and mass transit reimbursement. Eligibility begins the first day of the month following the first day of employment through pre-tax payroll deductions (consistent with IRS requirements).

Long Term Disability
Long term disability commences six months after date of employment and is completely paid by the firm.

Life Insurance
Coverage commences on the first day of employment (completely paid by firm). Supplemental coverage is available to attorney, spouse/children (fully paid by employee on after-tax basis).

40l(k) Plan
New attorneys receive Immediate 410(k) eligibility, and can contribute up to 75 percent of pay, subject to IRS guidelines.

Retirement Plan
The firm contributes three percent of an attorney’s salary between the third and fourth years of service, and five percent of salary for five or more years of service.

Pension Plan
The firm also has a defined benefit pension plan into which it makes yearly contributions and which pays retirement benefits according to longevity and salary.

Long Term Care
Long term care coverage commences on the first day of employment and is fully paid by firm. Supplemental coverage available at employee’s expense.

Parental/Family Leave
The firm provides up to 12 paid weeks paid parental/family leave. This can be taken following the birth or adoption of a child and is pro-rated for those who have been with the firm for less than two years. Additional periods of unpaid leave may be provided on a case-by-case basis.

Privacy Rooms
To ease in the transition back to work for nursing mothers, each of the offices of the firm provides a privacy room for their use.

Home Loan Assistance
Michael Best is pleased to provide first-time home buyers with home loan assistance.

Bar Exam/Bar Review Course
The firm provides reimbursement for Bar registration and the Bar review course (Bar/Bri) for individuals who accept their offer before taking the Bar exam.

Moving Expenses
Reasonable moving expenses are paid by the firm.

Technology Benefits
Michael Best firmly believes in the use of technology and ensuring that our attorneys have access to technology by offering interest-free loans for home computers. For convenience, the loan can be repaid to the firm over a two-year period through payroll deductions. The firm offers remote access through the use of a Citrix account. Blackberries or other PDA devices may also be connected to the firm’s network and there is monthly reimbursement for the expense.

Corporate Discounts
Michael Best employees are eligible to receive special discounted prices on a number of items provided through the generosity of many of the firm’s clients.

Corporate Membership Opportunities
Michael Best employees enjoy the use of corporate passes for many attractions, such as the Milwaukee County Zoo, Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World. Discounted membership rates are also available for the Wisconsin Athletic Club, the YMCA, Jewish Community Center, Milwaukee Athletic Club and others.

It is important that associates become involved in professional and industry trade associations. The firm supports our attorneys’ desires to become actively involved in these organizations, as appropriate.

The firm encourages associate involvement in the Bar and pays attorney bar membership fees.
